Melissa Gorga removed her husband, Joe Gorga, from the scene as he bombed during a stand-up earlier this month, according to images obtained by TMZ.

Joe – who spent the last month traveling across the country on his first stand-up comedy tour – seemed to fall flat with his routine during a recent show at Long Island’s Governor’s Comedy Club.

“Joe was sick that day,” his manager told TMZ. “He had a cold. He took Sudafed, then some scotches. It just hit him when he took the stage. We came back the next night and he made a joke about it.

The ‘Real Housewives of New Jersey’ star’s shoot went downhill when he started telling a joke about his friend, but it didn’t make much sense. The audience seemed to understand that Joe wasn’t having his best performance, but they entertained him by encouraging him to keep going.

Joe repeated the variations of the line: “Are you ready? And “We must all be ready for the king,” as the audience cheered him on. After a rant, Melissa joined her husband on stage and explained the situation to him.

“I don’t know what they gave you backstage, babe, but I have a feeling…” she started to say until she stopped Joe from taking another sip. of his glass.

The “RHONJ” star went on to tell audiences, “I swear to you, he usually cracks us up, he has a routine that makes us all laugh to tears every night – I promise you.”

Melissa then took her husband off the stage by saying, “Come on, let’s go,” as a reluctant Joe followed and the audience clapped and laughed anyway.

Joe kicked off his Carolines on Broadway comedy tour in New York City on October 27. Many of the cast of “RHONJ” – including her sister Teresa Giudice and her fiance, Luis “Louie” Ruelas – laughed the night away at her comedy debut.

Joe’s rep did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment. The Governor’s Comedy Club did not respond to us either.
