Authorities in Charlotte, North Carolina identified a man arrested for allegedly shooting a gun at a downtown comedy club on Saturday night (July 16).

According to the local station WSOCCharlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department James McCombs36, has been charged with nine counts related to the incident.

No one was reportedly injured on Saturday, but the situation called off the comedian Craig Robinson concert scheduled at the AvidXchange Music Factory.

Club workers say a man came in around 9.10pm waving a gun and asked everyone to leave the building. About 50 customers were inside and dozens more were outside. The CMPD confirmed that McCombs allegedly fired the gun after everyone was evacuated.

Officers said upon arrival they found several victims who said McCombs had pointed a gun at them and threatened to harm them. They could have quickly arrested McCombs and taken him to CMPD headquarters.

Arrest records from the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office reveal that McCombs was charged with five counts of assault while pointing a firearm, one count of discharging a firearm into an enclosure to incite fear and one count of possession of a firearm by a felon, among other counts.
