Jared Leto’s ‘Morbius’ Bombs At The Box Office In Meme-Related Reissue

Jared Leto Morbius flopped at the box office again after a re-release sparked by viral memes.

After many delays, Sony Pictures has released Morbius, their final entry in their villain-centric Spider-Man Universe spin-off movies in April. The film, which stars Jared Leto in the lead role, received negative reviews from critics and disappointed at the box office. Due to the film’s poor reception, the film was the subject of a tongue-in-cheek meme on the internet, with the fake quote “It’s Morbin time!” dominating online.

Well Viral Memes Drove Sony Pictures Out Morbius back in over 1,000 theaters this weekend. Sadly, that only led to The Jared Leto Movie bombing again at the box office, with the film grossing just $85,000 on Friday, June 3.

Morbius has now grossed $73.6 million at the domestic box office and has a worldwide total of $163.4 million. Jared Leto’s film certainly underperformed, and Sony’s hopes of expanding it within its Spider-Man universe with a sequel seem a bit dashed, especially given the success of the two Tom Hardy films.
