Not Bollywood, but it’s Southern cinema that’s getting all the accolades for its latest releases. Among all films, RRR stands out as it created massive havoc at the box office as director SS Rajamouli earned more 1000 Crores. Although everyone thinks that the film made profitable business, Andhra Pradesh exhibitors are not too happy with the success of the film. Not just period drama, even other big budget releases put them at a loss.

The period drama has created a lot of hype since the release of the first trailer. Although it was delayed multiple times, the film did incredible soundtrack business. The film featured Jr NTR and Ram Charan in the lead, while Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn made a special appearance. The film also starred Shriya Saran, Samuthirakani, Ray Stevenson, Alison Doody and Olivia Morris.

Coming back to the topic, as reported by Track Tollywood, Andhra Pradesh cinema operators claim they have not benefited from big budget films, including SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus RRR. Although the filmmakers claim to have made a big profit, it was the exhibitors who lost out.

Although exhibitors say they are in the worst situation, they did not specify a specific reason for their loss. The report further states that not only RRR, but the producers of other films promote the numbers even if they do not make large box office collections. Not only the producers, but even the distributors do the same just to please the main cast of the movie.

Exhibitors haven’t shared what they’ll do next, but they say if things continue like this, they’ll definitely take some kind of action.

Initially, the digital rights to RRR in Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada were awarded to Zee5, while Netflix aired the film in Hindi. More recently, the magnum opus was released on Disney Plus Hotstar in all regional languages.
