Akshay Kumar Starrer will open in the 12-14 Crores range

Akshay Kumar has yet another big release coming in 2022 before the end of the year. He has already appeared in Bachchhan Paandey, Samrat Prithviraj, and Raksha Bandhan as far as theatrical releases are concerned while Cuttputtli saw direct OTT release. Not that he’s new to directing multiple movies in a single year.

In 2019, before the lockdown, he had four consecutive major hits – Kesari, Mission Mangal, Housefull 4 and Good Newwz. Now in 2022, he is stepping forward by releasing up to five films.

Akshay Kumar has had a good track record in Diwali, especially in recent years. His 2019 release Housefull 4 was a 200 crore club Hit. Later, when theaters reopened in 2021, it was with Sooryavanshi, who again nearly hit the 200 crores Mark. Now in 2022, he is releasing another version of Diwali, Ram Setu. The film is quite significant as it has religious overtones and considering its Diwali release, the timing and placement couldn’t have been more on point.

It has an unconventional release day in the form of Tuesday. Since Diwali falls on Monday and the day after Diwali is the most lucrative of all, it is understandable why Amazon and Abudantia Entertainment decided to choose this release date. That said, we can’t expect a stellar opening for the film since there’s also competition in the form of thank goodness. Yes, Ram Setu will open better than standouts Ajay Devgn and Sidharth Malhotra, but it won’t be easy to just sprint ahead.

Eventually, word of mouth will come into play for Ram Setu, although comparatively speaking the film would have an edge over thank goodness at least in the morning and afternoon shows, and posted that it may well be act a neck and neck record, what with Delhi NCR, UP and other northern territories seeing a lead from Ram Setu. As of now, a debut in the range of 12 to 14 crore is on the cards for this Abhishek Sharma directed film.
